There are good reasons why this has remained an established classic since its release in 2009, and tops our list of the best two-player board games and is a staple of our picks of the best cheap board games. I own Jamaica, another game from Game Works (the publisher of Jaipur), and it is similarly well put together. So, because of it's length, you probably wouldn't get together just to play Jaipur, and you also probably wouldn't play it 5 times in a row. But on any one turn, you may only sell one type of good, and if it’s one of the most valuable, you must sell a minimum of two cards.

You can play conservatively, or give up certain goods to try to collect a full set of another, risking benefiting your opponent for the chance at a big sale.Jaipur has continued to be a popular game with recommendations into 2020 [4] [5] as well as being part of the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 competition. It’s fast-paced and portable too, which makes it the ideal lunch break or filler game, outside of large groups. When selling, you collect a victory point chip per good traded - and the chips decrease in value as players collect them.

If a player chooses to sell more goods than there are remaining tokens for that good, they will still qualify for a bonus token based on the number of cards sold. The luck of which cards are drawn and what your opponent decides to take is not within your control, but your hand and your strategies are. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. I believe that everybody (not just gamers) should try Jaipur, and I plan to keep it in my collection for a long, long time.At the end of a round, one player receives the Maharajah's seal of excellence, and the first player to earn two seals of excellence wins the privilege of being invited to the Maharajah’s court! Of course, the person with the most camels at the end of the game also gains five extra points, which can prove crucial.

At the end of the round, the player with the most camels in their herd receives the camel token, worth five rupees. For sets of three or more cards sold, players will be able to take a token which will contain a hidden amount of points.

If so, then it will be much harder to actually gain very many of them since there is a smaller number of them available in the deck (I think), and your opponent will also be trying to take them. You will find yourself battling the same person over and over to settle once and for all who really is worth the most camels! At its heart, Jaipur is a set collection game that has some push your luck elements baked in for good measure. It has a friendly vibe and a gorgeous look that feels warm, colourful and opulent when laid on the table. You are hoping to become the Maharaja’s personal trader by being richer than your opponent at the end of each week (round).
