Japanese Garden centenary celebration. Japan Children's Day

A wonderful day was spent at Tatton Park Cheshire on bank holiday Monday. The weather was glorious and a perfect day to visit the spectacular Japanese Garden there. The whole team were there, Chris, Andrew, George and me! It was on our list of places to visit and will certainly be a place we will go back to.

We experience the colour and atmosphere of Japan's National Children's day celebrations at Tatton's own Japanese garden.  The  interactive quiz helped children (and adults alike!)learn more about the stunning and fascinating Japanese garden whilst there'll be the opportunity to 'have a go' at Japanese craft activities and try on kimono. We of course provided the kimono demonstrations. As usual the bright pink furisode went down a storm. Photographs in a few days.

We  enjoyed free talks on pruning from Tatton's gardeners and the opportunity to meet Professor Fukuhara who played an integral role in restoring the Japanese Garden in 2000/2001.

Sushi-craft.com  demostrated sushi making and there was the opportunity to buy Japanese snack and drinks. needless to say we got our bento order in before opening Takayasu sans bento is the best outside of Kyoto.

TantaraTaiko drummers performed at intervals throughout the afternoon, sadly we only heard them. We were too busy showing children how to make origami boxes and playing 'Konpira fune fune' a great geisha game.

With a bit of luck this might become a regular event!
